Eh Team Interviews: ECC

Oh no!! Here it is: the very last of the Eh Team Interview series! Thank you for taking the time to read through one, some, or all of these interviews. The Eh Team really had a blast being able to share some of these answers with you. Now, the last interview is with the incredible Evely, our External Comms Coordinator (ECC).

What positions have you held in CISV (Locally/Nationally/Internationally)
-Locally, I’ve been the Mosaic Coordinator and Jr. LJR for JB Halifax and the Local Peacebus Coordinator. Nationally, I was the Junior Peacebus Representative last year and this year I am the External Communications Coordinator!

What is your best CISV memory?
-I JC’d at the village in Toronto last year and one day everyone from camp was out on the field. All the staff/leaders/JCs left the kids alone one the field (we could still see them, everyone was safe don’t worry :p) and we were in a huddle, planning something. All of a sudden we heard singing and we looked up from the huddle to see all 48 kids running an energizer. Not one participant was sitting on the side or off in little groups. It was so amazing to me to see them take the responsibility upon themselves and to include everybody and that’s why it’s my favorite memory!

What is your favourite CISV activity and/or energizer?
-My favorite activity is lifeboat because it’s the first CISV activity I ever participated in and also because it teaches a lot about stereotypes and prejudices we don’t even know we have.

What is your favourite thing about JB Canada?
-My favorite thing about JB Canada is how connected all the chapters are! I feel like as a local JBer, I can contact anyone from any chapter and get ideas from them or work with them and I think that’s really cool.

What do you like most about your Eh Team position?
-I like that I get to work on the blog! Everyone sends in their stories and Troy and I get to read them and translate them and then post them for everyone to read and enjoy and it makes me happy to hear about what’s going on in CISV

What change would you like to see occur in JB Canada?
-I would love to see more participation internationally, at things like AJBM, IJBC and CanExUs. Even though I’ve only participated in CanExUs, I think it would be really amazing to have more Canadian representation at all international events!

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
-I see myself with a law degree and hopefully working my way into the government (Evelyn for Prime Minister 2k50??) and with a dog (or 30).

If you could be any kitchen utensil, what would you be? Why?
-I would be a mixing bowl because they’re useful and everyone needs a good mixing bowl in their life, ya know?

What is your favourite thing about your city/province?
-Even though I’m not technically from Halifax (SackVegas represent) I love the atmosphere of Hali. It’s got a lot of students so there’s always something going on whether you’re artsy or sporty all while keeping the smaller city vibe. It’s très cool.

We really hope you enjoyed this little project, and stay tuned for more cool content from the CommSquad :) For more regular updates, follow us on Instagram: @jbcancommsquad

Peace out for now,
-Troy and Evelyn, your JB CommSquad
