Eh Team Interviews: DCCs

Hello everyone!! I hope you are excited for the next installment of the Eh Team Interviews! This week is another DOUBLE interview! We are talking to the DCCs, who run cool projects in the hope of better connecting JB Canada! Let's see what they have to say:

What positions have you held in CISV (Locally/Nationally/Internationally)
-Cameron:
LJR, 2013 – 15
Treasure 2015 – present
LDCC, 2013 – 2014
DCC, 2014 –16
-Maia:
Activities Coordinator (2008-2009)
LJR (2009-2013)
DCC (2015-2016)

What is your best CISV memory?
-C: One of my favorite CISV memories is after a simulation activity at village. We had a really interesting and insightful debrief with the participants, and it was really awesome to see how much they got out of the the activity.
-M:  Probably the day that I came home from my village. I so clearly remember my parents being absolutely shocked at how much I had changed and matured, and really in a way that I hadn’t consciously noticed at all. I feel like this change is why a lot of people stay involved in CISV.

What is your favourite CISV activity and/or energizer?
-C: One of my favorite energizers is Get Loose!
-M:  I really like boogaloo (spelling???)

What is your favourite thing about JB Canada?
-C: One of the best things about JB Canada the dedication of everyone involved, who strive to create the best possible
-M: I think most CISVers would agree with me, but the amazing people that are involved is what makes JB Canada so special to me, and what keeps me motivated to stay involved.

What do you like most about your Eh Team position?
-C: My favourite thing about the position of DCC is the collaboration with all chapters, to improve all of JB Canada, and therefore all of CISV.
-M:  I really like that with DCC you have a lot of freedom in what you do with the role! I like thinking creatively and DCC allows me to come up with creative ways to support JB Canada, which is really fun.
What change would you like to see occur in JB Canada?
-C: I would like to see more communication between chapters outside of national events, and hopefully this can be improved by the virtual townhalls beginning after SBTF.
-M: Generally, I would like to see more resources in between NBM and SBTF like online JB training resources, virtual townhalls, and more casual communication forums between JB members from across the country.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
-C: I don’t really have a concrete answer for this at the moment, for now I think I see myself doing something fulfilling, but I cannot say much more than that.
-M: Hopefully either working as a professor/researcher in either english or equity, or as a human rights lawyer! But totally something that could change.

If you could be any kitchen utensil, what would you be? Why?
-C: I’d be a spork because I am versatile, and can adapt to many situations.
-M: In my role of DCC, maybe a cutting board because I like to focus on providing a good foundation of resources for members of JB Canada to use?? I’m not good at these analogy things..
What is your favourite thing about your city/province?
-C: My favourite thing about Nova Scotia is the ocean, and lakes, because they maintain a good temperature all year round. Temperature in Nova Scotia never stays in the extremes for long, which is awesome.
-M: I agree with all of what Cameron said. Living in Toronto for school this year, though, I definitely appreciate the air in Nova Scotia more. Nothing is like the salty air that we have at home!

Get excited (and a little sad) that next week is our LAST blog post for the Eh Team Interviews!
See you all next week!

With much much love, the CommSquad <3
