A few weeks ago on the second weekend of December (Dec. 12-13), CISV Ottawa had its first ever Holiday Cookie-A-Thon! They baked over 1300 cookies that are seemingly traditional for the holiday season! The JB of Ottawa made ginger molasses, sugar, and vanilla cookies! (YUM!) As well as playing some super fun activities run by the older JBers, the participants had a lot of fun mixing, rolling, baking, and decorating!!
With about 30 participants of all different ages, they were up and moving constantly until about 4am when everyone was exhausted! Throughout the night they had a game of Canadian Trivia, a crazy game of squirt, and many pick-up games of basketball, amongst many other games and energizers!
To spread the wealth to the non-CISV citizens of Ottawa, a group of brave JBers stood outside in the cold selling to citizens! They were more than happy to deal with the cold, however, because they were spreading the word about CISV and selling a ton of cookies! All of the profits made from this year’s Cookie-A-Thon will be donated to the CISV Ottawa bursary fund! This will help Ottawa JBers who maybe cannot afford to travel get the great opportunity because CISV should be an experience that should be shared!
They cannot wait until the next Cookie-A-Thon to bake even more delicious cookies!
Many thanks to JB Ottawa for this awesome update and pictures of cookies!
